Art of INA LORETA SAVICKIENE is inspired by East Asian painting tradition. Author uses original materials and tools – ink and brush, rice paper, natural mineral pigment paints, following perennial principles of Oriental philosophy and aesthetics polished through generations. And at the same time she searches for cultural interconnections, modern ways to make the old tradition look meaningful. She attempts to show that tradition can be viable, art beautiful and the beauty non-banal. Mastering an extremely complicated technique of Eastern Asian ink wash painting enables to reveal the beauty of the material itself – rice paper glow, pigment tranquility, calligraphy strokes of a brush, ink shades. The picture comes to be as though it was a result of perceived interaction between the author, the tools of art and the object itself.
"Unique painting of Ina Loreta Savickiene is a mindful meditational study of natural structures. Painting, the same as calligraphy writing, remarkably reveals impression of natures festiveness and spontaneous change. It goes deep into the nature as if it was perfectly completed and exhaustive picture of the reality. Feelings being experienced while gazing at the nature and being experienced while watching its beauty in the work of art are hardly possible to articulate by mundane words in exact manner. Language loses its power against the view of nature and its pictorial depiction. Art by Ina L. Savickiene does not simply tell about harmonization of human feelings and experiences but culminates in harmonization. Painting of the author even looks like a kind of meditation on herself and her place in the realm of nature. The artist uncovers sheer reality being experienced while in touch with natural surfaces in an effort to understand their order," – states prof. Dr. Remigijus Venckus, media artist and critic.
Ina L. Savickiene organizes solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad since 2017. She has received awards at the international competitions as well as media attention in interviews and articles about her art. Her works, along with works of the other well known Western calligraphers and artists of ink wash painting are presented on the Hmay Art website (www.hmayart.com), the largest internet supplier of Chinese traditional art materials and tools.
Ina L. Savickiene was granted the Status of Art Creator.
