How to Choose a Painting?

How to Choose a Painting?

The Paveikslai.lt gallery holds several thousand original paintings by a wide range of artists, so we can guarantee that everyone will find something close to their heart. Still, we have to admit that the search for the perfect painting can sometimes turn into long hours of browsing and... measuring. Of course, the effort is always rewarded — a wonderful work of art will bring joy for a lifetime.

Still, keeping a few things in mind will make your search for a painting faster and more effective. Read our tips!

1. What is your home like?

Think about the mood you want to create at home. Are you aiming for calm, choosing pastel, earthy tones, or do you want to add drama with a bold accent? Perhaps spaces meant for relaxation are better suited to works that radiate peace and harmony, while in the living room, where you welcome guests, it might be better to hang a striking painting that makes everyone say, "Wow!"

Remember that fresh blue and green tones convey calm, while red, pink, and orange bring vibrancy.

Also try our gallery's room filter, which selects paintings based on the room you choose.

2. What is your style?

How would you describe your style? Do you prefer classic, harmonious color combinations, or do you like to mix bold colors? As with fashion, your taste reflects your personality, and your walls are no exception.

3. What space do you want to fill?

Do you have a large, tall, blank wall, or just a small shelf where you'd like to place a little painting? At the Paveikslai.lt gallery you'll find paintings ranging from 3 m down to 10 cm, so we recommend using the size filters to narrow your search.

4. Who do you live with?

Even if you adore a painting, it's good if your partner likes it too. Psychologists say that art brings people closer both intellectually and emotionally, helping to build a deeper connection. Choose together!

5. What do you like?

Actually, this is the most important thing. You see a painting, fall in love, and all logical reasons fly out the window. In almost 10 years of selling paintings, we've seen customers carry home paintings that barely fit through the door of their small, cozy homes, sometimes even having to give up a piece of furniture for them, while others built collections so large that there wasn't enough wall space for everyone, so the display kept changing, just like in a real gallery. Trust your instinct!
