Our Tips for Choosing a Work of Art as a Gift

Our Tips for Choosing a Work of Art as a Gift

Few gifts are more memorable than a work of art, so choosing one for a loved one or a valued colleague will undoubtedly show them how much they mean to you.

All you need to do is think carefully about what makes the recipient special, and you'll be sure to choose a wonderful gift for a lifetime. What's more, art is a deeply personal and unique gift — the recipient will truly feel special receiving it. Since a work of art is there to stay, this special connection will always bind you together.

By the way, if you're already shaking your head, here's a secret: art doesn't have to be an expensive gift. You can find a graphic work for under €50, and a painting for up to €100. We invite you to browse our curated collection “Selected Paintings Under €250”. You can also use our gallery's price filter.

If you're feeling a little lost and don't know where to start, here are a few of our tips:

1. Think about what the person's home or office looks like

Do they prefer neutral tones and a minimalist interior, or an eclectic style with vintage details and flea-market finds? Or are they an incurable romantic? A person's personal style or favourite colours can often point you in the right direction.

For romantics, we recommend the work of Genutė Burbaitė. "The Flying Angel" €115

Fans of eclectic style will love the work of Eglė Colucci. "Insomnia" €1,635

Admirers of modern art appreciate the work of young artist Gia Ram. "She.No:51" €465

2. Think about what this person likes to do in their free time, what their passion is

A friend who loves surfing will certainly appreciate a marine landscape, while a dedicated hiker will love a sweeping, space-expanding landscape. Perhaps your loved one enjoys dancing? Look for a painting featuring dancers' figures or musical instruments in our “Music and Dance” collection. Do they have a favourite city? Perhaps a Lithuanian artist has painted it?

Travellers love Rolandas Mociūnas's cityscapes. "Venice" €285

Nature lovers will appreciate Rita Medvedevienė's landscape "Sunrise over the Neris". €123

Ieva Stoškienė's graphic works are a true delight for admirers of elegance and grace. "Dancer" €105

3. Sometimes less is more

A smaller piece gives you more options for where to hang it. Even if there's no free wall space at home, there is surely a shelf or a bedside table that a work of art would beautifully adorn. You can find smaller works using our size filter.

Small but expressive, Vilma Vasiliauskaitė's landscape will liven up any interior. "White Swan" €150

4. Remember that art is a valuable and special gift for a person of any age.

One of our clients gives his son a work by an up-and-coming young artist every year. In doing so, he not only gives his son an art collection, but also supports young artists. It's a double gift!

You'll find works by young artists in our “Young and Talented” collection.

Sigita Dabulskytė's watercolour "Landscape" €51

Monika Požerskytė's work "Nature Morte No. 5", created using a fascinating technique. €105

5. Gallery gift voucher

If you still think choosing a painting is simply too difficult, just give a voucher for the amount of your choice. Personally handwritten in elegant script, the voucher will be valid all year round!
