Rasa Balkienė, a Lithuanian artist, graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in 1993, where she focused on architectural restoration. With extensive experience as an interior designer, she brought meticulous planning and accuracy to her professional projects. This strong background in art and architecture has shaped the distinctive character of her creative endeavors.

Over time, Rasa began to nurture a love for painting during her free moments, and in recent years, watercolor has become especially significant in her artistic development. Unlike the strict order required by architecture, working with watercolor provides her with a freer, more spontaneous outlet, enabling her to prioritize improvisation rather than strict precision.

Rasa chooses to paint only in outdoor settings, drawing immediate inspiration from the nature surrounding her. She values the sensations the outdoors provide—the warmth of sunlight, the aroma of rain and wind, the abundance of wildflowers, the humming of bees, and the singing of birds. All of these sensory details infuse her work with the energy and harmony inherent in her chosen subjects, typically summer landscapes and flowers.

Her painting process is guided by instinct, without preliminary sketches or predetermined structure. Rasa prefers to let each piece unfold naturally, responding to the watercolor's unpredictability as she works. The spontaneous merging of colors, unexpected drips, and energetic brushwork all contribute to the spirited and playful essence present in her paintings.
