"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

The painting called "Relatives" by Kristina Česonytė is vibrant and striking. It features several figures that resemble leopards or cheetahs stretched across the canvas. These animals are depicted dynamically, with some poised as if moving across the space. The background is light, almost white, making the animals stand out. The lines and shapes are playful and somewhat abstract. Bold lines in black and touches of gold give structure to the figures. Spots of red, blue, and other colors add a vivid contrast. Kristina's style in this artwork seems free and expressive. Her use of spontaneous strokes and scribbles suggests a raw energy. The overall effect is both chaotic and harmonious, full of movement and life.
