Painting in the room
"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
In this painting titled "No FAKE idea. Just tomatoes" by Kristina Česonytė, there’s something appealing about its simplicity. The canvas shows a sliced tomato and a smaller piece, vivid in red against a muted gold background. The brush strokes are visible, loose but intentional. Shadows and lines sketch in the details of the tomato, suggesting texture and form. Kristina Česonytė's style in this work appears expressive. She blends simplicity with a sense of immediacy. Her use of contrasting colors and dynamic lines gives the painting a modern, somewhat abstract feel. This piece invites viewers to appreciate the ordinary, elevating a simple subject through art.
