Painting in the room
"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
This painting shows a vibrant image of bananas. The bananas are boldly outlined in black, with strokes of bright yellow filling them in. They seem almost in motion, lively and expressive against a textured white background that appears rugged and multi-layered. Kristina Česonytė, the artist, uses a style that feels both dynamic and playful. She combines thick textures with fluid lines, giving her work a sense of energy and spontaneity. The contrast between the vivid yellows and the stark white adds a striking visual impact. The painting's title, "It's Kristės, Not Bananas," adds a layer of humor or personal touch, suggesting there's more to the image than meets the eye. This piece is a great example of modern art's ability to blend simplicity with depth.
