Painting in the room
"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
This painting by Kristina Česonytė features a series of rounded, overlapping figures. They are drawn in a bold pink hue against a muted pink background. The figures have minimal facial features and detailed, decorative hair, adding a whimsical touch. The style is playful and somewhat abstract. Česonytė uses simple line art to create a sense of movement and connection among the figures. The use of monochrome pink adds to the dreamy, surreal quality of the artwork. Overall, the painting evokes a joyful and carefree feeling, a hallmark of Česonytė’s art. It shows her unique approach to form and color, using both to evoke emotion in a simple yet effective way.
