"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
The painting is full of color and energy. It features a complex mix of lines and splashes. Some areas are thick with paint; others are just delicate strokes. The colors range from bright pinks and blues to deeper browns and blacks. There seems to be no clear subject. It feels like a whirl of memories or dreams. Everything flows together. Some shapes hint at figures or objects, but nothing is definite. It’s as if the artist captured a moment of thought. Kristina Česonytė’s style is free and expressive. She uses abstraction to create a sense of movement. It’s like she’s not just painting a scene but rather capturing the essence of a fleeting memory.
