"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

In this painting "Colorful" by Kristina Česonytė, we see an abstract scene. There are figures that seem to be floating or dancing in a light, creamy background. Each figure is drawn with bold outlines, filled in with vibrant colors such as green, blue, and white. They have spots, which add an interesting texture. Kristina's style is playful and expressive. Her brush strokes are loose and fluid, creating a sense of movement and freedom. The composition feels free and dynamic, as if each figure is in the middle of motion. The use of color and form gives the artwork a dreamlike quality.
