"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

The painting displays an abstract portrayal of a woman, using a blend of warm and neutral tones dominated by beige, brown, and white, with accents of black and golden yellow. The strokes are thick, visible, and dynamic, suggesting movement and adding texture to the figure. The woman's form is suggested rather than detailed, focusing on the curves and flow of the human body, abstractly capturing the essence of feminine physicality. The area that might represent the chest and waist is highlighted with touches of gold, drawing attention to these parts of the figure. The background is minimal, primarily using pale tones to provide a contrast that emphasizes the subject.
