Eva Mili is an artist recognized for her distinctive use of loose, expressive brushstrokes and her heartfelt, genuine storytelling. Her art fuses elements of contrast, resulting in a unique and harmonious equilibrium throughout her pieces. Guided by a desire to inspire optimism and a sense of lightness, Mili consistently selects bright hues and soft shades for her palette, purposefully avoiding the use of pure black in her paintings.

Eva Mili primarily paints with oil on canvas, favoring the wet-on-wet technique—a lively process that brings both energy and spontaneity to her art. This method requires her to complete the central layer while the paint is still wet, which enables her to seamlessly merge objects and soften edges. The immediate nature of this approach means that every painting is imbued with her present feelings and reflections, rendering the creative journey unpredictable and profoundly intimate.

Mili’s versatility spans a variety of genres, including still lifes, animal-themed works, and figurative compositions. Nonetheless, she feels a particular connection to portraiture. She takes special pleasure in observing how the assertive application of a palette knife (mastichin) gradually shapes dynamic portraits, lending both human and animal subjects distinct personalities and emotions.

Her path to becoming an artist was far from straightforward. After completing art school, she entered the field of science, eventually receiving bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from Kaunas University of Technology. Mili worked as a programmer before embarking on a ten-year career as a professional photographer, a period that rekindled her passion for creativity. As a self-taught painter, she honed her abilities by studying works of foreign painting masters and delving into English-language resources focused on realism and impressionism, especially perfecting the wet-on-wet method—a technique still relatively rare in Lithuania.
