Allow me to introduce myself. I am Iveta Utakytė (Jurkšienė), student at Vilnius Academy of Arts. In my strong belief, every painting carries a piece of its creator's soul within it. A simple paintbrush helps me to reflect what I see, what I feel and who I am. Mainly, this is why Art should never be a tool for spreading lies. Or should I say 'why it cannot be used to tell anything but truth'. It would simply be an act against the nature of Art. The little things in my everyday life all of a sudden bring back times, stories and emotions that I've experienced in my past. Then I feel this irresistible need to put it all in my paintings. Art gives me a chance to tell stories, but my stories are different. They are full of riddles, full of symbols that people have to sort out. I give hints, not answers. I create intrigue. The feeling that my paintings unite people, creates a bond between me and them is what I'm looking for. It's what I dedicate myself for. The creation of stories, that must be told. That must be seen. Thus let me welcome you to my world.
